Prekindergarten & Universal Pre-K (UPK)

Our Pre-K classrooms are thoughtfully designed to support children’s growth across all developmental domains through a play-based, relationship-centered approach. We nurture each child’s curiosity, confidence, and love of learning while preparing them for a successful transition to kindergarten.

Arlington Area Childcare, Inc. is an approved Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) partner under Act 166, serving children who reside in both the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union (SVSU) and Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) districts. Eligible families may receive up to 10 hours per week of public Pre-K at no cost while their child remains enrolled in our center.

Guided by the Vermont Early Learning Standards, our Pre-K program places a strong emphasis on social and emotional development as the foundation for future learning. Children are supported in building self-regulation, communication skills, independence, and positive relationships in an environment where they feel valued and safe.

Through hands-on exploration, collaborative play, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences, children engage in activities that promote:

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Language and early literacy

  • Early math and reasoning skills

  • Fine and gross motor development

Our classrooms are intentionally structured to meet children where they are developmentally, offering flexibility, choice, and meaningful learning opportunities. By partnering closely with families and local school districts, we ensure children are well-prepared, confident, and ready for kindergarten—academically, socially, and emotionally..

"Here, every child is an artist, a scientist, a dreamer—growing and discovering at their own pace."
