Building a Greener Future: Our Energy Efficiency Upgrades Are Complete!

At Arlington Area Childcare, we are always looking for ways to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for the children and families we serve. We are thrilled to share that we have officially completed a major building upgrade project with the help of Control Technologies and Farnum Insulation and the results are incredible!

A Smarter, Seamless Heating and Cooling System

Thanks to our partnership with Control Technologies, our heating and cooling system is now fully online and automated. This new technology allows us to manage temperatures more efficiently, creating a consistently comfortable environment for children and staff year-round. The upgraded controls also make it easier to monitor energy use, reducing waste and lowering costs.

Insulation That Makes a Big Impact

Farnum Insulation worked tirelessly to upgrade our building’s insulation, ensuring our classrooms stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This important improvement significantly reduces energy loss, helping us use less energy to maintain a comfortable space.

A 31% Reduction in Energy Output

Together, these upgrades have reduced our energy output by an incredible 31%! This means we are lowering our carbon footprint and contributing to a healthier planet, all while creating a safe and sustainable learning environment for the children in our care.

A Community Effort

To support this project, our Executive Director Ginelle Hunter applied for multiple grants, including the Vermont Building Communities Grants, Vermont Afterschool Support Grants, Efficiency Vermont, and the Vermont Community Foundation, among others. In addition, our organization carried out numerous fundraising activities over the past year to ensure this critical project could be completed.

They reflect our commitment to being good stewards of the environment and creating the best possible setting for children to grow, learn, and thrive. By investing in these upgrades, we’re building a brighter, greener future for our community.
